Body text for: Guide to the report
This report outlines the operations and performance of the Department of Communications and the Arts for the financial year ended 30 June 2017. It has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of section 46 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).
Note that figures in tables and in the text of this report may be rounded. Figures in the text are generally rounded to one decimal place, while those in tables are generally rounded to the nearest thousand. Discrepancies in tables between totals and sums of components are due to rounding.
Section 1 – Overview
Includes a review of the year by the Secretary, and information about the Department —our purpose, strategic priorities, outcomes and programs, organisational structure, ministerial arrangements and overview of our portfolio.
Section 2 – Annual performance statements
Reports on our performance during the year as required under paragraph 39(1)(b) of the PGPADefinition:Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act and section 16F of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule (PGPA Rule). We demonstrate how the Department has performed during the year in relation to our purpose, outcomes and programs, and strategic priorities.
Section 3 – Management and accountability
Provides information about corporate governance and performance, our people, and financial management.
Section 4 – Financial statements
Contains our audited financial statements for 2016–17.
Section 5 – Appendices
Contains supplementary information on public interest contracts and grants; agency resource statement and expenses for outcome; legislation and statutory instruments; staff statistics; and advertising and market research.
Section 6 – Reference information
Provides a list of abbreviations and acronyms, a glossary of terms, a compliance index and an alphabetical index.
